I've bought one in every color!

PostedSeptember 20, 2012
I can totally see how someone with a smaller frame would be overwhelmed in this shirt, but I love it. I'm a 38DD, so this fits my chest perfectly. It is loose in the belly area, but still looks great with skinny jeans. It's sexy yet still hides imperfections in the tummy. It is very thin, but I'm hot natured, so this material is perfect for me for fall & winter in the Carolinas. I've ordered one in 3 colors now, especially since they've been marked down to such a great price!

A good value at the sales price

PostedSeptember 13, 2012
I got this shirt on sale for $14.99, and was very happy with it. I agree with the other reviewers; the material is thin, and if you don't get the sizing right, it can end up looking like a maternity top. I generally follow this rule with baby-doll shirts from BP: order a size down from normal. *Usually*, they will still fit, and there will be less bunching at the waist. The dahlia color is absolutely gorgeous, and it's one of the few long sleeve shirts I own that actually cover my ridiculously long arms. I ordered an xs, am 5'9, 135lbs, and 36C and am happy with the fit.

Too Much Ruching For Small Frame- Thin Material

PostedAugust 15, 2012
The material was too thin for me. i could see my bra strap around my back. I have a small frame and there was too much ruching in the bustline. This top was long on me too. I returned it.

At the sale price, it's a pretty choice for summer.

PostedApril 9, 2012
I was instantly drawn to this top, as pictured, in the dahlia color. After reading the reviews (always SO helpful), I decided to order the coral color (which I would otherwise not typically select), as it was the only color option offered at the sale price. Now I know that I will later order the dahlia color, if/when it goes on sale. I am 5'9", 145 pounds, with a 36C #sometimes 36B# bust. I have freakishly#!# long and very skinny arms, and I long-ago became accustomed to wearing ALL my sleeves pushed up toward my elbow to hide the fact that they are too short in length. These are actually long enough for my arms, which probably means that EVERYone else will have to push them up to hide the fact that they are too long! They are also quite tight on my arms -- not at all uncomfortable, but my arms are thinner than most. I love the ruching at the cuff of the sleeve. The material is, indeed, very thin. In fact, I have some dark freckles on my shoulders and arms and they can been seen—faintly--through the pale coral color of the fabric. The top was extremely wrinkled when it arrived, and I was unable to remove the wrinkles with a hand-held steamer. But, I washed the top in my machine on a gentle cycle, tossed it in the dryer on the permanent press cycle, removed it and hung it on a hanger when it was nearly dry, and the wrinkles are gone. I've not worn it yet #as it is still winter here in Calgary#, so I don't know if it will wrinkle when worn. Even though I am not busty and I do not have wide shoulders, the "small" fits me just fine; i have not had the problems noted by others with the neckline being too wide or too deep... then again, I am quite tall, and the distance between my bustline and the top of my shoulders is more than most #i think#, such that i never wear strapless design, as I think they look like they are hanging too low, on my proportions. My final comment is that there is A LOT of fabric scrunched into the knotted bodice. As thin as the rest of the fabric is, I could #theoretically, at least!# wear this top without a bra, and there would be no show-through in the bodice area. Even though I am fairly small-busted, I would tend to wear this with an unlined bra, so as not to add any more "padding" to the area than there already is. Overall, I think the design is very pretty, and, for my proportions, the fit is good overall; I will order the dahlia at the sale price #though, I would pay no more than that# and I believe I will be even happier with the top in a darker color.

Fabric is thin and flimsy - too bad, because the design is good.

Thin Fabric, Design Flaws

PostedFebruary 27, 2012
I bought this with one other BP top. The OTHER top was "the great BP quality" that I have read about. This one was not. The other top arrived without any wrinkles, and the fabric (a knit) was thicker and smoothed over any body flaws. This one was very thin, and even though I am a thin woman (5'4", 115 lbs), it showed bra marks and even a little bra fat. The arms were a little tight, the sleeves long. The worst part was the neckline was so wide that it was over the top. I love cleavage, and have a large bust, but this was not only deep but wide as well. I got it in coral, a beautiful color, and due to the return fees will end up keeping it and making some alterations to make it work. I will shorten the sleeves and take a large dart in the back at the neckline which will adjust the shoulder width. Hope this review helps.

Alterations made it perfect!
Posted March 15, 2012
My alteration lady took two large darts in the back of the neckline and made 3/4 sleeves by removing the ruching from the bottom of the sleeves. It now fits perfectly and with the shorter sleeve length will be perfect for spring wear.

cheaply made top

PostedFebruary 7, 2012
I got this top because it looked like a cute casual top. The fit is sloppy and not nearly as flattering as the picture shows. I'm finding for the cost that Boston Proper is very hit and miss and I think that means it's time to quit ordering online and go to my local stores!

Nice light Shirt

PostedFebruary 7, 2012
I typically wear a small/medium in shirts and ordered an extra small after reading all the reviews. I wear a 34C bra size. It shows a lot of cleavage but fit nicely in the chest area. The shirt is light weight, tight in the arms and loose in the waist. The picture displayed seems true to the actual appearance. It definitely does not have the same quality as other BP shirts but I purchased the coral color on sale for $15. It was worth it to me.

Very Disappointed

PostedNovember 23, 2011
I purchased this top in dahlia, which is a lovely color. However, after only 2 washes, the neck completed stretched out and is ruined. I would not expect this from a Boston Proper product and am extremely disappointed.

disappointed

PostedNovember 9, 2011
I have mixed reviews on this top. The material is thin and cheaper than I am used to from BP. This is not wrinkle free either. It took me over 20 minutes to steam the top so I could try it on. Again definitely not wash and wear. It does however look cute on, but I am afraid it will fall apart after a wash or two. I am undecided whether or not to keep it.

I like low-cut necklines, but...

PostedJuly 23, 2011
This top looked great on the model who was wearing it. The low-cut looked good on her as well. However, the V neckline fell below my breasts. I’m 5’4”, weigh 102 lbs., with a bra size of 34B. I ordered an XS and was sadly disappointed at the ill-fit of the neckline. If the V neckline had not fallen so low on me, I would have kept it because the rest of the top fit great.

Great Neckline

PostedJuly 5, 2011
This shirt is true to size and has a flattering fit. Some reviews say the neckline shows too much cleavage. I'm a 34C and I would feel comfortable wearing this shirt to work with out anything underneath but if you're larger on top I could see where this might be a bit low cut. I also recommend the sleeveless ruched knot top as they are the same shirt.

Cute Top but Going Back

PostedMay 24, 2011
I guess I didn't pay attention to the material. I was expecting the soft poly /spandex. It would have been so much better in that fabric. It feels cheap and probably will not hold up after a wash. Mine arrived with lose threads and looked stretched out. I love the design, but the fabric just doesn't do it for me. It is super low cut which I like, but the material doesn't hug the body, so it just hangs there. I think mine will go back.

Hugely Disappointed

PostedApril 4, 2011
I ordered this top in an XS. When I tried it on the scoop of the neck fell below my breasts to my stomach! (talk about a low cut). The fabric felt thin and the stitching was poor. I am not awkwardly built-5'7" 130lbs with a chest size of 34c. Assuming the top had fit otherwise, the "flowy bodice" made me look pregnant

Great Ruched top!

PostedMarch 23, 2011
i got it in the Dahlia color. Color looks slightly different in real life than in the photo - the photo's color is brighter. However, it still is stunning. Unique design -BP is ALWAYS unique- has aflattering fit, and feels soft-just divine. Wear it with big, dangly earrings, and POW! Definitely recommend!
